There are a limited number of rooms that have o ned up at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort. If you want to stay at the resort, ntact the resort at (760) 341-2211 by 5 PM PDT on Friday September 11, 1998 and k for reservations. When you reserve the room ask for the Applied Superconducti ty Conference (ASC) rate of $136 plus tax. One should not miss the opportunity tostay at this wonderful four diamond resort. If you chose to be at the conference hotel rather than another hotel, be sure to cancel your room at your other hotel. ASC-98 publication room rimes: 1) Manuscript drop off times in the publication fice are: Monday, September 14, 8:00 to 11:30AM and 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Tuesday, Se ember 15, 8:00AM - 2:00PM. 2) The publications office is closed Wednesday Septe er 16. 3) Reviewer Package pick up times are: Thursday, September 17, 8:00 to :30AM and 1:00 to 3:00 PM, Friday, September 18, 8:00AM to noon Comments concerning submitted Manuscripts: Many of you have asked for the length f the manuscripts. The manuscript allowable lengths are: Contributed Oral Paper ength - 4 pages, Contributed Poster Paper Length - 4 pages, Invited Paper Length- 6 pages, and Plenary Paper - no limit on length. ASC allows papers to be turn in that are longer than the allowable length, but there is a $250 charge for each page over the allowable length. The publication room can take the extra page ch ges and extra paper charges in the form of cash and travelers checks in US dolla . The publication room can not handle credit cards. There is an ATM machine in he hotel that accepts most bank cards and credit cards. Make sure that the paper title and the list of authors is done in ASCII characters Review Author Check List carefully to ensure you have met the requirements to su it the paper, that you have the correct original manuscript, that you have the a ropriate number of copies, and the IEEE copyright form. Check the ASC-98 websit for the correct program number for your paper. A number of program numbers have een changed so make sure you have the correct one. Put your correct program num r on the outside of the envelope that contains the paper you are turning in. Markthe program number on the reviewer copy in dark ink. Mark the original manuscri with the page numbers and the program number using a light blue non-reproducing pencil. Special comments regarding handing in a manuscript: 1) You must have a Paper pu ication certificate (located in registration package) with you when you hand in ur paper. 2) If you are handing in a paper for someone else coming to the confe nce later in the week, you will be required to fill out a small form to ensure t t the paper has a valid registrant and who that registrant is. If there is no v id Paper Publication Certificate, turned in with the paper, there is a charge of 250 to get the paper published. Papers turned in without a publication certific e by the end of the conference will not be published. 3) Your paper must be pre nted at the conference in order to be published. 4) If a corresponding author s changed - you will be required to fill out a small form to correct the informa on in the database for future communications concerning the paper. 5) If no one an drop off the manuscript for you by 2 PM September 15, you should contact the naging Editor to see if there is any other way to handle your specific case. Papers with t reviewer will be given to the session chair to get reviewed. 2) Inform the ma ging editor about which papers in your session were not presented. 3) As a sess n chair you should attend your assigned Session Chair breakfast meeting. 4) Therewill be a reviewer package for both the session chair and co-chair in the publication room on Thursday and/or Friday to be picked up. To ASC-98 Reviewers: 1) All reviews must meet the criteria required under IEEE. 2) Reviewers packages can be picked up on Thursday, September 17 - 8:00AM to 11:30AM and 1:00 to 3:00 PM or on Friday, September 18 8:00AM to noon 3) All reviews re due to your assigned editor by September 30.
