"Determination of the Optical Constants of Semiconductor Thin Films from Photometric Measurements," P. M. Grant, Bull. Am. Phys. Soc. 10, 546 (Washington, 26-29 April 1965).  [This was my first APS talk!  In fact, this was my first "professional" presentation.  I was so nervous, I couldn't go in the room (at the old NBS building) until my time, and then left right after.  I recall being asked a question about comparison with Kramers-Kronig results.  My slides were the 3x5 glass of the day (only my sketches of three are here. I flew down from Boston early in the morning with an upset stomach, and then home in late afternoon.  After my talk, I went down to the Lincoln Memorial for a few hours.]

"Optical Properties of Thin Germanium Films in the Wavelength Range 2000-6000 Angstroms," P. M. Grant, Bull. Am. Phys. Soc. 10, 1185 (Los Angeles, 20-22 December 1965).  [This talk was essentially a "reprise" of my earlier "March Meeting," given at UCLA at the then "Winter Meeting."  I had returned to IBM in September.  The results essentially focused on the difficulty of determining n and k from R and T data in those spectral regions where n≈k.  I have recollections of some of the "academics" attending were "looking me over" as a potential faculty recruit, especially Montana State at Boseman.]
